iHola! Me llamo Señora Videz. This is my 21st year in ERCSD teaching World Language (Spanish). I would like to welcome you and your child to Spanish beginning level 1/2 or Spa I/II.
Learning a second language is challenging and rewarding work. It requires diligence and persistence on the part of the student. I am committed to educating your child by providing a healthy, safe, supportive, engaging , and challenging learning environment in my classroom. Parents, students, and teachers must work together to ensure each child's success. With your support I know this goal will be achieved. |
Spanish Beg 1The emphasis in Spanish beginning 1 is on acquiring language through comprehensible input. Students will spend much class time engaged in listening, reading, speaking, cultural and writing activities. At the end of the course the student will take a final examination that will determine their placement for the following school year.

Spanish Beg 2
Spanish beginning level 2 is a continuation of level 1 and emphasis continues to be placed on communicative proficiency as measured by the student's ability to accomplish a variety of tasks in different situations. Listening, reading, speaking, cultural, and writing will be practiced as they relate to the functions of the language: socializing and expressing personal feeling, providing and obtaining information, and persuasion. At the end of the course the student will be taking the NYS FLACS examination in Spanish in order to be awarded the credit for high school.

Spanish IISpanish II is the next section after the completion of Spanish beginning level 1 and 2 or SPA I. This course covers the curriculum for the next level as well as incorporates reading and writing (grammatical) skills necessary to improve literacy. At the end of this course the students will take a final examination which will also count as a credit for high school. For those who have been recommended to this level without having taken the NYS FLACS examination you will additionally have to take that exam at the end of the course in order to continue to the next section.

Spanish I
Spanish I is a combination of both Spanish beginning level 1 and 2 in one year. This course covers the curriculum content for both levels as seen in the above informational areas. At the end of the course the student will be taking the NYS FLACS examination in Spanish in order to be awarded the credit for high school.
